About the Author |
Barbara E. Connor began writing in 1991, following her retirement from a twenty-one year career with Federated Department Stores in the New York area. She moved to Florida and quickly became part of the senior volunteer network-- according to Connor, the only thing keeping Florida afloat. Connor joined her first writers' critique group and soon began writing independently for a number of local and regional papers and magazines. She joined the staff of the Ocala Star Banner in 1997, as a Features Correspondent. At the urging of mentor, Duke Stoetzer, Connor wrote her first piece of fiction. "If not for the Dukester," says Connor, "I would never have known the joy of writing fiction." Three of Connor's short stories have been published. In Georgia where she now resides, Connor is currently working on an anthology of short stories and has recently finished a first novel, GILLIE. |
